We just returned from Leg 1 of our 3-Part Adventure (Trip to Isla Danzante, San Ignacio Lagoon for Whales & Loreto-La Paz leg.) Diane, Peggy and I had such a wonderful time exploring Danzante Island together. In the blink of an eye we were transported from the sweet marina at Puerto Escondido to the pristine Honeymoon Cove at Danzante Island. Peggy and Diane went for a swim once we anchored while I did some boat KP. Then we all enjoyed a hike with Sophie leading the way. Once we returned to Celtic Song, Diane wanted to capture every last ray of sun so we re-positioned the boat to a different part of cove to capture the last hour of sun before it dipped behind the mountain.
Danzante had more to reveal as the sun disappeared and stars started popping up throughout the dark night sky. As we enjoyed a dinner under a star-filled night, we realized that the dark sea was also filled with starlight from the reflection of the stars above. The bio-luminescence made the ocean appear to be filled with fireflies. It was like nothing any of us had ever seen. We all slept well in the beautiful cove where we enjoyed the solitude (we were the only boat at anchor) and the glassy calm seas. We woke in the morning to a pod of dolphins slowly swimming around the boat for about an hour. As always, Diane is a great teacher and empowers her crew to do things that may push our comfort zones but helps us become better sailors and crew aboard Celtic Song. Today I got to steer the boat through the harbor channel with depths shrinking to 5'!!!! Aghhh! But we made it through one hand on the wheel, one hand on the throttle and one heart in the throat. Thank you Diane and Celtic Song!!
